We're looking at Acts chapter 8 today, continuing in Acts chapter 8,

and we're going to answer three questions today, hopefully.

One is, is anyone beyond the reach of the gospel?

In other words, is there anyone unredeemable?

I think we already know the answer to that, but we're going to see how much so.

Number two, can you believe in your brain but not in your heart?

And finally, what is the baptism of the Holy Spirit?

Because we're going to hopefully experience that today.

I believe the Holy Spirit will baptize us afresh today.

So let's pray, and y'all turn to Acts chapter 8,

and we're just going to thank the Lord for being here and speaking through inaudible words.

The Holy Spirit is going to deposit something into our souls and our minds.

So Father God, we thank you, Lord, that your word is here.

Your spirit is here.

And Lord God, we believe that you're going to tell us something new today

that we need to have to embrace, to hold onto, and to cherish,

and to apply to our lives, that we leave here more like you.

So Lord God, we do ask you that you would transform our minds today, Lord,

and speak to us through your Holy Word.

And we ask this in Jesus' name, amen.

So just to recap for a minute, last week we saw how a great persecution hit Jerusalem,

and as a result, the gospel spread out and started to—a lot of people fled Jerusalem

to go preach the gospel other places.

Others remained and stayed behind.

And so we're going to pick it up from there,

and we're going to see a very unlikely place

that the gospel would go to first after Jerusalem.

So let's pick it up in Acts chapter 8,

and we're going to look at verse 5 to 25.

Well, first we're just going to read from verse 5 to 8.

So, then Philip went down to the city of Samaria

and preached Christ to them,

and the multitudes with one accord heeded the things spoken by Philip,

hearing and seeing the miracles which he did.

For unclean spirits, crying with a loud voice,

came out of many who were possessed,

and many who were paralyzed and lame were healed,

and there was a great joy in that city.

So here, Philip, the first stop he makes is Samaria.

Which leads us to the first question,

is anyone unredeemable or beyond the reach of the gospel?

Now, I have to give you a little bit of a history behind Samaria.

Some of you already may know it,

but the Samaritans, their history is that

when the Assyrians came to exile Israel,

the northern kingdom, that is, to Assyria,

they took Israel away, but somewhere left behind,

probably the undesirables or those who were hiding, whatever,

but most were taken away to Assyria.

Some remained, and then what the Assyrians did,

which was normal back then,

is they said, let's repopulate the area with other cultures

so that they won't really get along,

and that there would be a lot of turmoil in the,

and they can't band together against us.

So, they brought in other cultures, other countries,

that they had also captured

and brought them into the land of the northern kingdom.

Now, when these peoples came to the northern kingdom,

the remaining Israelites started to intermarry

with these other cultures.

They started to adopt their Gods

and practice many of their cultural things, their traditions.

And before you knew it,

it was kind of like a contaminated Jewish faith.

They had their own temple on a different mountain

other than Jerusalem,

and they had all kinds of customs that were very different

than the true Israel that followed Yahweh.

So now, the exile is over, okay?

And by then, they were all brought together in Babylon

and then beyond that.

And then finally, when they were released by the Persians

to go back to their homeland,

when the Israelites returned, they're like,

who are these people?

They kind of seem Jewish, but they're a mixed breed.

And they have all kinds of weird cultures and customs.

And we don't really get along with them.

And they realize that when the Samaritans saw

the Israelites come back, they were saying,

they kind of seem like us, but they seem different.

And we want to find out more about them.

Well, the Israelites wanted nothing to do with them.

And so there started this contention.

Now, this is back 500 years before the days of Christ.

And so there was this lineage of animosity

between the Samaritans and the Jews.

And for right cause many times,

because at one point, when there was a conqueror

coming against them from the Selesud or Selesud Empire,

they were coming against the Israelites to conquer them.

And the Samaritan said, we're not with them.

We're not Jews.

In fact, if you want, you could bring your God Zeus

and put it in our temple.

So they were really like faint hearted fans of Israel.

And they were hardly friends.

So there's a lot of reasons behind this hatred

towards the Samaritans.

And they're considered half-breeds.

They were considered demon worshipers,

all these other things.

And so now, the gospel leaves Jerusalem.

And the first stop is Samaria.

And it seems weird, doesn't it?

But Jesus had already started this

when he was in his ministry.

In fact, when others would travel from the northern area.

In fact, we have a map up there.

When they would travel from Galilee,

down to Jerusalem, right?

When they would come through the land of Samaria,

they'd say, no way, Jose.

And they would cross over the Jordan River

and travel on this side,

specifically to avoid Samaria

because it was considered dangerous.

It was considered disgusting, in a sense,

and filled with demonic presence

and all the other things.

And so at one point during Jesus' ministry,

he said, let's go back to,

let's go from Jerusalem to Galilee,

but let's take this route right through Samaria.

And you can read about this encounter

Jesus had with the city of Sukar in Samaria

in John chapter four.

You know the story.

Jesus is there.

He's going through Samaria.

Probably his disciples are saying,

why are we here?

What are we doing in this ugly place?

And here he meets this woman at a well,

the woman at the well, the Samaritan.

He starts speaking to her.

Before you know it, the whole city is saved.

And they're worshipping him.

And the disciples are like, wow.

So Jesus was already during his ministry

making inroads to Samaria.

That's why he even said before he left,

I want you to go to Samaria

after I leave with the gospel.

Because to him, they were not irredeemable.

To him, they were not beyond the reach of the gospel.

No one is.

Everyone is valuable to God.

There's no reason to have a bias or a prejudice

or a distrust or a hatred towards any people

or any person

because anyone has the potential to be saved.

All they have to do is say,

Jesus, I want you to be in my life.

I want to receive you as my Lord and Savior.

That's all it takes.

Anyone can be saved if they call upon the name of the Lord.

Whoever calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved.

So here we see this beautiful picture of the Samaritans.

And it was wonderful.

Remember the 10 lepers, right?

He heals 10 lepers.

Which one came back to him?

The Samaritan, the one leper who was realized, wow,

I have to go back and worship that person who just cleansed me.

In fact, Jesus even told the parable, the good Samaritan.

Remember when that when, you know,

the priest wouldn't take care of this vagabond

who was beat up on the side of the road.

The Levite wouldn't take care of him.

Who did?

The Samaritan.

So Jesus was already saying these people are your neighbors

and they will also be brought into the kingdom.

You know, if he even saved Romans,

who were their oppressors?

He saved Saul.

He could save anybody, right?

And so the answer to that first question

is obviously no one is irredeemable.

Even the Samaritans, even me.

No one is.

And so there they are and great miracles are happening.

And verse nine.

But there was a certain man called Simon

who previously practiced sorcery in the city

and astonished the people of Samaria,

claiming that he was someone great

to whom they all gave heed from the least to the greatest,

saying this man is the great power of God.

And they heeded him because he had astonished them

with his sorceries for a long time.

But when they believed Philip,

as he preached the things concerning the kingdom of God

and the name of Jesus Christ,

both men and women were baptized.

Then Simon himself also believed.

And when he was baptized, he continued with Philip

and was amazed seeing the miracles and signs

which were done.

Verse 14.

Now, when the apostles who were at Jerusalem

heard that Samaria had received the word of God,

they sent Peter and John to them,

who when they had come down,

prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit.

Now, did you catch that?

They believed.

But verse 16.

For as yet he had fallen upon none of them.

And they had only been baptized

in the name of the Lord Jesus.

Then they laid hands on them

and they received the Holy Spirit.

And when Simon saw that through the laying on

of the apostles' hands,

the Holy Spirit was given,

he offered them money saying,

give me this power also

that anyone on whom I lay hands

may receive the Holy Spirit.

But then Peter said to him,

your money perish with you

because you thought that the gift of God

could be purchased with money.

You have neither partner portion

in this matter,

for your heart is not right

in the sight of God.

Repent, therefore,

of this your wickedness.

And pray, God,

if perhaps the thought of your heart

may be forgiven you,

for I see that you are poisoned

by bitterness and bound by inequity.

Verse 24, then Simon answered and said,

pray to the Lord for me

that none of the things

which you have spoken

may come upon me.

So when they had testified

and preached the word of the Lord,

they returned to Jerusalem,

preaching the gospel

in many villages of the Samaritans.

So that's an interesting,

we have a few quandaries

we have to figure out here.

Okay, first of all,

Simon the sorcerer,

didn't we just read that he believed?

That he believed.

And he was baptized in water.

So, you know,

most of us would be someone like that

and say, okay, all right,

he's coming along,

he's one of us.

And yet what did he want to do?

He wanted to purchase that capability

to lay hands

and give the Holy Spirit.

Why do you think

you might have wanted to do that?

Ego, what else?

Little jealousy.

Look at these guys, man.

Everyone's following them now.

I used to be the guy.

They used to worship me.

I was the power of God.

Now suddenly they are.

I don't like this.

What's in this for me?

You see this envy

and the desire

for to glorify himself in this.

But he was a believer.

How could Peter say

that I could see

that your heart is not right

in the sight of God?

How can that be?

Well, the second question we ask,

can you believe in the brain

but not in your heart?

I think you can.

You know that?

I really do.

I think you can logically

come to the conclusion

well, you know,

Jesus was a perfect man.

He lived a perfect life

and there needed to be a sacrifice.

And so he was the sacrifice for me

and he died on the cross,

paid for my sins

and now he's in heaven

and he's going to come back someday.

Okay, I'm good with that.

It's okay here,

but is it okay here?

Like has anything happened here?

Because, you know,

we can understand things logically

but until it leaks down

into the brain,

into the heart,

it's not really here.

Unless we have a transformed heart,

nothing happens with these thoughts.

You know, in fact,

James said faith without works is right.

If we're not acting on the things

that we supposedly believe,

then it's just dormant.

It's idle.

There's nothing happening.

And so we see that Simon believed up here

but his heart was still rotten.

I have a little diagram,

a little graphic

that I found along the way.

I don't know if you can connect with it,

but I kind of did.

But anyway,

but like here,

you know, we believe in the mind.

Okay.

But then when it comes down to the heart,

when we finally say,

yes, Lord, like,

I want this for my life.

I need this for my life.

I am.

I'm going to own this.

Yes, Lord.

I want to receive you fully.

I want to die to who I used to be

and come alive and resurrect

in who you are.

And it trickles down into my heart.

Suddenly now,

it's a transformed heart and mind.

Amen.

You know, why do you think in Romans 10, 9, 10,

it says,

you know,

if you confess with your mouth

that Jesus is Lord

and believe in your heart

that God raised him from the dead,

you will be saved

for with the heart,

one believes on the righteousness,

but with the mouth,

which is connected really

to your thoughts,

with the mouth,

one confesses unto salvation.

It has to be in the brain

and in the heart.

In fact, in the Hebrewic Bible,

when they say mind,

we think of mind as the brain.

Don't we?

What's in your mind?

You know, we think of up here.

But to the Jews

and to the Hebrew language,

the mind was even more

in the heart than the brain.

Do you realize that?

It's more of like,

you know,

it's the heart and the mind,

but love the Lord

with all your heart,

soul, mind and strength.

The mind is really the heart as well, right?

And so it's interesting.

They're finding out more and more facts

about how the heart does

a ton of communication to the brain.

Did you know that?

This Vegas nerve system

that it actually transmits

communication and orders to the brain.

We always think the brain

controls everything,

but the heart does a lot more

than we think.

And that's biologically.

But how much more spiritually?

You know, did you ever hear

someone say,

Oh, my heart's just not in it.

That's what I see about

all the projects around my house.

My heart's not in it.

Jill says,

Can you not?

My heart's not there.

Yeah, my heart's not anywhere

to do any work around the house

lately anyway.

But really, if it's not in your heart,

it ain't happening, right?

You have to love what you're doing.

And so this was the problem with Simon

and it's really a problem

with all of us.

If it's not in the heart,

when you think about it biologically,

what is it like a distance

between nine inches to 14 inches

with Josiah Kennedy.

It's like 14 inches

between the brain and the heart.

Me, it's probably nine.

Okay, I'm just saying.

But whatever distance,

it could be eternity.

If it's not here, right?

It has to be in your heart.

And so that was the problem.

Now, so we kind of solve that problem

in a sense

because there is a lot of,

you know, people

who believe logically.

But really, are they really believers?

Because it hasn't transmitted

into the heart.

But I saw another issue here

is because, you know,

they all believe,

they're all filled with joy

and so forth.

Peter and John come down here

and says, hey,

they haven't received

the Holy Spirit yet.

That kind of bugs me.

Like, is there something there

that you kind of say,

that doesn't really make sense?

Like, because I always thought

when you become a believer,

you receive the Holy Spirit.

Don't you like these things

that seem contradictory?

Because they're like puzzles.

I think God just wants us

to solve the riddle in a sense, you know.

But we're told that

when you believe

you receive the Holy Spirit.

In fact, we have Ephesians chapter 1

verse 13-14.

In him you also trusted

after you heard the word of truth,

the gospel of your salvation

in whom also having believed

you were sealed

with the Holy Spirit of promise.

Okay, so I'm not here

to like have anyone question

their faith, okay?

Unless you are and then, you know,

come on up and we'll talk about it

and pray about it.

But we're supposed to be

receiving the Holy Spirit

when we believe.

I have another one.

Galatians 3

verses 2 and 14.

This, I want, this only,

I want to learn from you.

Did you receive the Spirit

by the works of the law

or by the hearing of faith?

The purpose was

that the blessing of Abraham

would come to the Gentiles

by Christ Jesus

so that we could receive

the promised Spirit

through faith.

You see that?

We believe we receive

the Holy Spirit.

And Romans 8-9 says,

if you don't have the Holy Spirit,

you're not even,

you don't even belong to the Lord.

So, so when we become believers,

we're supposed to receive

the Holy Spirit.

So, why didn't he,

they experience the Holy Spirit?

Why did the Holy Spirit

not come upon any of them yet?

Are you questioning that?

It doesn't make sense fully, right?

Well, I believe it's solved

because, you know, there are,

there are,

there are three prepositional positions

of the Holy Spirit

towards mankind.

And we see this

throughout Scripture.

The Holy Spirit

comes alongside,

he's with us, okay?

In fact, Emmanuel, what is, you know,

his name will be Emmanuel,

God with us, right?

The Holy Spirit is with everyone,

meaning the Greek word is para,

as in like parachute,

paralegal, paramedic, right?

It means with.

So, the Holy Spirit's with mankind.

He's always trying to draw people

to the Lord, right?

So, he's everywhere.

The Holy Spirit is with all mankind.

It's with.

It's just, he's here.

He's here right now.

The Holy Spirit is here in our midst.

And that's, that's the,

that's his position

in being with mankind.

But then there's the in, okay?

And it's actually end in Greek.

And it means he comes into us.

That's when we become believers.

A believer doesn't have that

in position of the Holy Spirit.

He's not in them yet.

And then there's an upon.

That is the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

I believe that's what is being spoken about here.

He had not fallen upon any of them.

That word is epi, meaning comes upon them.

That means baptizing them.

That means empowering them, right?

And so, we see three positions

of the Holy Spirit.

Jesus spoke about these

in John 14, verse 16 and 17.

This was the last evening with his disciples.

And he said,

and I will pray the father

and he will give you another helper,

meaning the Holy Spirit,

that he may abide with you forever.

The spirit of truth

whom the world cannot receive

because it neither sees him nor knows him.

But you know him for he dwells with you.

That's the power.

And he will be in you, okay?

We so far have the with and the in.

Two thirds.

If you've received the Lord Jesus Christ

as your Lord and Savior,

you already had the with

and he's still with

but he's also in.

But then what's this

other preposition of the Holy Spirit

being upon?

Well, Jesus also talked about this.

He said in Acts chapter 1, verse 8,

you will wait and the Holy Spirit

will come upon you at B.

And you shall be witnesses to me

in Jerusalem and all Judea

and where?

Sumeria.

Sumeria and to the end of the earth.

And what happened at Pentecost?

The Holy Spirit came upon them, right?

Well, some might say,

well, that was the same thing.

They received the Lord,

the Holy Spirit in them

and then also upon them.

No, there was another empowerment here.

And the reason I can say that for sure

is do you remember a short time after that,

we already read it in the past,

Acts chapter 4,

when this is after Peter was arrested

and they're all praying in the upper room

and said, Lord,

you know, all these strikes against us

empower us to be bold

and to preach the gospel

and prove your gospel

by garnishing it with the worse,

the signs and wonders and miracles.

And as they were praying,

the place was shaken

and what the Holy Spirit came upon them.

And they went out and preached

with even more boldness.

Were they already saved?

Did they already have the Holy Spirit with them?

Did they have the Holy Spirit in them?

But there was a new fresh empowerment upon them.

Isn't that awesome?

And so I have a little prop here.

I haven't done a prop in a while.

And with one arm,

it could be a little challenging,

but why not?

So this is you.

Okay, a little sponge, all right?

And we do actually sponge

in everything around us, don't we?

There's a lot of spirits in the world.

And before we came to Christ,

we have sponged up

a lot of spirits in us, right?

There's a lot of spirits in here, right?

And so the Holy Spirit comes along.

Okay.

And He's dwelling real close

to a lot of people.

But He's not in them yet.

He's just with them, okay?

He's drawing them in.

Come on, you got to receive them.

Come on in.

The water's warm.

Like we say, we're always baptized in here, you know?

And we don't lie.

It is warm.

But anyway, He's saying, come on, you know,

come to the Father.

They're being drawn in, right?

But until they say, yes, Lord,

they don't have them in.

And so finally, they say, yes, Lord.

Save me, Lord.

And what happens?

Well, there's not even a drop there.

There we go.

I don't want to...

There.

Okay.

Is there a Holy Spirit in here?

Yes.

Okay.

They're saved.

But...

Is there anything coming out?

It's almost bone dry, isn't it?

It's just a little droplet of the Holy Spirit.

Don't we want more than just that, right?

And then we say, Lord, I want to be baptized.

I want Your Holy Spirit to come upon me.

I just want You to fill me,

overflow like living wooders, Lord God.

I want to be saturated with Your Holy Spirit.

Isn't that what you want?

And you know what comes out of us?

Like Jesus said, like living wooders.

It just pours out.

And guess what?

Lord, I want some more.

I want some more, Lord.

Give me some more.

Isn't that what we want?

We want to be baptized again and again

so that it just keeps pouring out of us into others

and being refilled up again.

There's a never-ending flow of the Holy Spirit.

That's the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

I believe that's what He's talking about here,

is being the Holy Spirit had not fallen upon any of them yet.

And yet also what bugs me is

why did He have to lay hands on them to receive the Holy Spirit?

Now, that wasn't one of our questions, okay?

We're not necessarily going to solve that

because you see the Lord move in a lot of different ways, okay?

He really does.

He doesn't like to do the same thing the same way again and again

because all of a sudden, you know what mankind does?

Oh, let's save that bronze serpent and worship it.

That's going to be our Messiah.

Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

Everything becomes a religion.

Everything becomes a symbol.

Everything starts to have its own divine power

instead of the power of God, right?

So He doesn't like to do the same thing

over and over and over and over again.

But sometimes do we need to have an anointing

and have someone lay hands on us

to receive the Holy Spirit though?

Sometimes, but we don't.

In fact, I can prove it to you

when Peter went to the house of Cornelius.

You remember that?

We're going to come to it in Acts chapter 10.

They're all unbelievers.

They were Romans and he goes to them and he says,

you know what?

I can't even believe I'm here, okay?

Because you guys are unclean, okay?

And I'm in your house

and they probably had a meal together, right?

And so he comes in and he's like saying,

the Lord told me this is okay.

He never would have been in there.

But guess what?

Nobody is unredeemable, right?

So here he is in the Roman household

and he's talking, he's talking

and he's trying to convince them.

And then suddenly, as he's still speaking,

had nothing to do with him anymore.

Holy Spirit just fell upon me.

He didn't have to lay hands.

He didn't have to lay hands on them.

But then we see other places

where Paul, you know, Ananias came to him,

laid hands on him.

He received his sight.

He received the Holy Spirit.

We see when Paul was in Ephesus

and he was preaching to those 12 men.

And as he was speaking to them,

he had said, were you guys ever baptized?

We, I was baptized in the baptism of John the Baptist.

He goes, oh, well, that's for repentance.

But you have not received the baptism

of remission of sins.

He laid hands on them

and they were anointed with the Holy Spirit.

So we see that the Lord wants to anoint all of us

with the Holy Spirit.

He wants to baptize us with the Holy Spirit, doesn't he?

If the worship team could come up,

I know it's a little bit early,

so sorry if I'm taking some of you by surprise,

but as you're making your way up here,

you know, as we're thinking about this,

I was thinking about like a sailboat, okay?

You know, and I'm not a sailor.

I've never sailed a boat.

So I don't, why am I talking about it?

I'm not sure yet.

But anyway, I saw, this is what I've heard, okay?

Any people ever sail a sailboat?

You lucky people, you know?

Okay, not me.

Roger, you look like a sailor, actually.

I could see him with a sailor's cap on.

But anyway, so, but, you know, a sailboat, you know,

you can hoist the sail.

A little bit, and you'll catch a little bit of wind, right?

Go a little bit of places, right?

Or you can just pull it up a little bit higher,

halfway up, you'll go a little faster.

What if you hoisted the thing to the top

and caught all the wind?

Well, you know, the Holy Spirit is spoken of as a wind,

a mighty rushing wind.

The Holy Spirit's wind.

Don't you want to catch all of the wind?

In fact, what I'm about to see sometimes on the beach,

and I look at, and you ever see a kite border?

Man, I wish, I don't think I have the guts for that,

but maybe someday, I don't know.

When I have a death wish, I'll just see how I'm going.

That's it.

Bye, Jill.

I put everything in order for you.

But, I mean, they have these kites,

and they're on a little wakeboard, or a hydrofoil.

No, not a hydrofoil, a wakeboard.

And they're holding on to the sink,

and it catches the wind, and they jump off a wave.

And it's like 30 feet in the air,

and it's for like 100 yards in the air.

I'm like, how do you have the guts

to even practice something like that?

And they're in the ocean,

about three quarters of a mile out in the ocean.

Like, what if a whale comes by, and you land on them,

and then the shark comes along right after it,

and says, hmm, what's this?

Here's a nice snack, right?

But like, I want to catch all the wind, man.

I don't want to leave any wind behind.

I want to just say, Lord, if you want to take me,

take me where you want to go.

Amen.

When Paul was writing to Timothy,

and he said, do you remember the Holy Spirit?

He said, do not neglect the gift that is in you,

which was given to you by prophecy,

with the laying on of the hands of the eldership.

So they laid hands on them with the Holy,

and prayed that the Holy Spirit would gift him in a certain way.

And yet, Timothy probably always struggled with boldness,

with confidence, with courage, yet he was still chosen.

And in Paul's second letter, his last letter ever written,

and he had invested so much in Timothy,

and he was probably thinking, man, if Timothy lets this dwindle,

this flame that was started in him, the Holy Spirit,

if he lets it, I'm not going to be here anymore.

My time is very limited at this point.

And he was right.

He was executed probably within a year after this letter.

And he was writing to them, and he said,

listen, fan into flame that gift of God,

which is in you through the laying on of my hands.

You know, we're told here, obviously,

that we have a responsibility to not only be baptized,

but in the Holy Spirit, but be re-baptized,

and rejuvenated, and just, and refilled with the Holy Spirit,

with that rushing, living waters, the mighty rushing wind,

right, the Holy flame of God.

It's up to us to say, Lord, I want more, and more, and more.

Jesus said, ask, seek, and knock.

If you being evil fathers give good gifts to your children,

how much more your heavenly Father

will give anything you ask when it comes to the Holy Spirit?

Ask, seek, knock.

That's what he wants us to do.

He wants to say, yes, Lord, I am no mediocre human being.

I am the temple of the Holy Spirit.

I am a new creation.

I am anointed for great things.

I am a royal priest or priestess.

I am a holy nation.

I am anointed for mighty things on earth,

and as long as I am walking the face of the earth,

I am going to make it known that I belong to Jesus Christ,

and he belongs to me.

We are one, and he lives in me.

Amen.

So I think it's time to, let's get anointed in the Holy Spirit.

You know, I was thinking, Lord, what do you want to do today?

And I just was tearing up thinking, Lord, like,

can you just fill us afresh with the Holy Spirit?

Can you just pour down on us like living waters?

Can you send your holy flames on us today

to burn up all the dross, Lord God,

and to purify us that we will be like liquid gold

leaving this place, that we will be purified, Lord.

Fill our sails today, Lord God.

We are ready for more of you.

Are you ready for more of the Lord?

I want to be filled today.

I'm not satisfied yet.

I'm content, but I want more.

If there's more to be had, do you want more?

He said, ask, seek, knock.

He doesn't say just be okay.

He says, ask, seek, and knock.

Are you ready to ask for more of the power of God in your life?

He says that he will download gifts of the Holy Spirit into us today.

You may receive a gift today that suddenly you'll be praying for someone

and casting out a demon right out of them.

And you think, oh, he's being ridiculous.

No, I'm not.

I'm saying this is for us today.

You may be laying hands on someone and praying for them,

and actually they're healed.

Like, whoa, this is for now.

This is true.

We are equipped to do this.

So we're not going to do it.

Who's going to do it?

There's only one human race that can live in the power of God,

and that's the saints.

That's us.

If we're not going to believe who we are in Christ, who else will?

There's no one else that will believe in us except Jesus Christ.

And he says, look, I've done this for you.

I want you to have more.

Ask, seek, and knock.

So let's stand up and let's just claim what the Lord wants for us today.

And it's not for our benefit.

We don't want to be superheroes.

We want to be empowered to bless others.

To change their lives in the name of Jesus.

As we worship, let's just prepare ourself

to cry out to the Lord and say, Lord, anoint me today.
